NDA Selection Process 2023 – Written Exam
As per the latest conducted NDA exam, there are two parts of the written exam: Mathematics and General Ability Test. The written exam has a total score of 900 marks. Each paper is held for two hours and twelve minutes. The total number of questions asked in the GAT is 150, while the number of questions asked in Mathematics is 120.

Mathematics: The Maths syllabus for NDA 2 include these topics:
- Algebra
- Matrices and Determinants
- Trigonometry

General Ability Test: These are the topics included in GAT
- English
- An extended text on English covers themes including grammar and usage, vocabulary, comprehension, and cohesiveness.
- General Knowledge
- A general knowledge test measures a candidate’s general awareness and familiarity with his environment.
- It may cover themes including History, Geography, Economics, politics, and current events.
Candidates can better prepare for the exam by developing a vision and action plan with the aid of a thorough understanding of the NDA Syllabus 2023. The NDA Mathematics syllabus carries questions from Arithmetic, Mensuration, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, etc. The weightage of the Mathematics paper is 300 marks while it is 600 marks for the General Ability Test. Candidates can clear their concepts of Maths by referring to the NCERT books of Class 11 and 12.

NDA Selection Process 2023 – SSB Interview
The UPSC will release a detailed notification with respect to SSB interview. The SSB interview process consists of two stages: Stage I and Stage II.
- Stage I includes Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) assessments and the Picture Perception Description Test (PP&DT) and candidates are shortlisted based on their results in both tests.
- Stage II includes Psychology Assessments, Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks, Interview and Conference and takes place over the course of four days.
Tests are administered as part of the Service Selection Board (SSB) process at the National Defence Academy (NDA) to determine applicants’ physical, mental and psychological suitability for a career in the Indian armed forces. NDA Selection Process 2023 – Document Verification
Document verification is done for those candidates who have cleared all the 3 exam rounds. At the time of the interview, the selected candidates are required to bring their original documents for verification. The following documents need to be brought by the candidate.
- Proof of education – 10th or 10+2 certificate.
- Caste certificate for applicable candidates.
- Proof of identity.
- Proof of address.

NDA Selection Process 2023 – Medical Examination
The candidates who are shortlisted in the SSB interview round are recommended by the authorities for a medical checkup. This is an essential part of the NDA selection process and the selected candidates have to appear at the Military Hospital.
- The NDA medical examination will be conducted at the Military Hospital by a Board of Service Medical Officers.
- The final selection of the candidate will depend on whether they are declared fit for the medical examination or not.
- For female candidates, a detailed gynaecological, obstetric, and menstrual history will be required along with regular medical details.

NDA Selection Process 2023 – Final Merit List
Once the official UPSC notification is out and the different stages of the exam are conducted, the final merit list will be prepared.
- A single combined merit list is prepared based on the total marks secured by candidates in the written exam and SSB Interview.
- The final allocation/selection is based on the candidate’s rank in the merit list and the preference of the service.
- The NDA final merit list is generated by UPSC and incorporates the marks of the written test as well as the SSB.
- The NDA merit list is prepared for the final selection of the candidates. It is prepared on the basis of the total marks scored by the candidates in the written exam and SSB.
The final merit list for NDA 2 will be released after the exam is completed.
NDA Selection Process – Reasons for Disqualification in NDA 2023
- Candidates who were previously accepted into the Indian Naval Academy’s NDA or 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme but were later removed due to a lack of officer-like qualities or disciplinary reasons would not be considered.
- Candidates who were previously removed from the NDA or the Indian Naval Academy due to medical reasons or who voluntarily left are eligible for admission if they pass the medical fitness test.
